Locker FAQ

Quick answers about renting, sharing, locks and reporting problems with student lockers at Emily Carr. Can’t find your answer below? Submit a request through the Service Desk.

Question 01

Where do I request a locker?

Submit your request through the Locker Rental service page on the Service Desk.

Question 02

How long can I rent a locker?

Lockers can be rented for a minimum of 1 academic term (Fall, Spring or Summer). We also offer an option to rent for 2 terms for a reduced price (Fall + Spring).

The cost to rent a locker is:
$17 for 1 term
$30 for 2 terms (Fall & Spring).

Question 03

Can I share my locker?

You can choose to share a locker with a friend, but only 1 person will register for the locker and will be responsible for the locker rental. Facilities will only address issues with the person responsible for the locker.

Question 04

Can my club rent a locker?

Yes, a club can rent a locker, but the rental agreement must be completed by one student. This rental does not count against the one personal locker that a student is allowed.

Question 05

How many lockers can I have?

At the beginning of Fall term, we limit lockers to one per student. At other times during the year, additional lockers may be rented based on availability.

Question 06

What lockers are available?

Lockers are available in the main hallways of the building on levels 1, 3, and 4. Lockers located inside studios and shops are not rented by Facilities.

Question 07

How can I tell which locker is available?

Available lockers are locked with a gold padlock that belongs to Facilities. These locks have a colored dot painted on top.

Question 08

Do I just find an empty locker and move in?

No. You must complete an online locker request form.

Question 09

Can I buy a lock from the school?

No. We do not sell locks.

Question 10

Where do I buy a lock?

Locks are available anywhere that sells school supplies or hardware, for example:
  • Canadian Tire
  • London Drugs
  • Dollar Store
  • Home Depot
  • Walmart
  • Amazon

Question 11

What happens if I forget my locker combination?

If you are locked out because you lost your key or forgot your combination, please put in a service request to have the lock cut. You will need to provide a new lock.

Question 12

Can I keep my locker open for a few days until I get a lock?

No. Part of the terms of your locker agreement is to keep the locker locked at all times. We will open your locker when you have a lock to put on it.

Question 13

What do I do with items that are too large to fit in the locker?

Please consult with your instructor or studio technician if you are working on large projects that must be stored at school. Storing items on top of lockers is not secure and not recommended.

Question 14

How do I report a problem with a locker?

Please report any problems using the locker request form.

Question 15

Can I move to a new locker in the middle of the term?

Please choose your locker location carefully to avoid having to move. If you must relocate, please fill out a service request.

Question 16

Can I use my locker while I’m away for the summer?

You cannot use a locker for personal storage. Lockers are only available to registered students.
