Microsoft Outlook includes built-in email protection that may quarantine suspicious or potentially harmful messages. This article explains how to monitor and retrieve quarantined messages using the Microsoft 365 Defender portal.

Access the Quarantine Portal

View Quarantined Emails
- After signing in, you’ll see a list of quarantined messages.
- Use filters to sort by:
- Date received
- Sender
- Subject
- Reason for quarantine (e.g., spam, phishing, malware)

Review Message Details
- Click on a message to view its content and metadata.
- Review the reason it was quarantined and assess its legitimacy.

Take Action
- Release to Inbox: If the message is safe, click Release message to deliver it to your inbox.
- Report as False Positive: If you believe the message was incorrectly flagged, click Report as false positive to help improve Microsoft’s filtering.
- Block or Allow Sender: Choose to block or allow future messages from the sender.
You may receive periodic email notifications summarizing quarantined messages. These emails include direct links to view, release, or report messages.
If you’re unable to access the quarantine portal or have questions about a specific message, please submit a ticket through the ECU Service Desk.
