The StrongerBC future skills grant is for British Columbians aged 19 years or older – regardless of financial need – and covers up to $3,500 in eligible short-term skills training at public post-secondary institutions.

You must complete both the ECU course application and apply for your grant funds through the Future Skills Grant Management System (FSGMS) via the BC Services Card app at least 7 days before the course start date. Applications submitted after this time frame will not be processed.

Who can Apply

If you can answer YES to all the statements below, you are eligible for the StrongerBC future skills grant!
  • I am a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, or a Protected Person entitled to study in Canada
  • I am a B.C. resident living in British Columbia
  • I am either 19 years of age or older, OR I have graduated from Grade 12 (or equivalent).

Registration Policies

  • I understand that the FSG grant funds cannot be applied to a course I have already registered and paid for. 
  • I must also apply for your grant funds through the Future Skills Grant Management System (FSGMS) via the BC Services Card app seven (7) or more calendar days prior to the start of the course. Applications that are submitted after this time frame will not be processed.
  • If the available funds in my FSG account does not cover the full cost of the course, I am responsible for paying any remaining tuition balance within 48 hours of application approval. If payment is not received within this timeframe, my application will be cancelled, a $150 administration fee will be deducted from my future skills grant and my seat will be released to another applicant. 
  • If I request to withdraw from the course seven (7) or more calendar days before the course start date, a $150 administration fee will be deducted first from my future skills grant funds, and if necessary, from any tuition I have paid directly.
  • If I request to withdraw from the course fewer than seven (7) calendar days prior to the start of the course, full tuition will be deducted from my future skills grant funds , and if necessary, from any tuition I have paid directly.
  • I am responsible for reading and understanding all  Continuing Studies registration policies

Digital Credentials Issued Through Accredible

When you successfully complete a micro-credential course, you earn a digital Skills Badge. This badge can be shared on social media (like LinkedIn) to showcase your skills to employers, setting you apart from the crowd. Badges are issued through Accredible, a full service digital credentialing solution.

For Continuing Studies courses that lead to digital credentials, ECU will share your name, email address and student ID number with Accredible after successfully completing the course. All personal information is collected by Emily Carr University of Art and Design (ECU) under the authority of Section 26(c) of the British Columbia Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c.165. Read more about Accredible's security and privacy policies.  Any questions about the collection of your personal information should be sent to Privacy@ecuad.ca
