Student Parking

Student Parking

Notice: Student Parking Requests will be available starting Sept 2, 2026

Submit a request as an Emily Carr student for paid underground parking at 565 Great Northern Way. Parking is limited, and submitting a request does not guarantee that a pass will be available. Student parking requests may include:

  • Requesting a new student parking pass
  • Renewing an existing student parking pass for a new term
  • Updating vehicle information on an existing pass
  • Cancelling an existing parking arrangement
  • Requesting cancellation of a parking ticket issued while you were authorized to park
  • Reporting an issue with parking

General Information

Paid parking access is available for purchase by eligible Emily Carr students. Parking is limited and is offered on a first-come, first-served basis subject to availability. Submitting a request does not guarantee that a parking pass will be available.

If all passes are currently sold out, Facilities will let you know by email. You are welcome to check this page periodically for updates on availability, or to explore transit and daily parking options on the ECU Visit Us page.

Note: Please expect a response within approximately 4 business days.

Eligibility & Cost

Who can request parking

To request a student parking pass you must be a currently enrolled Emily Carr student. When you submit your request, please have the following ready:

  • Your student number and Emily Carr email address
  • Your vehicle make, model, colour, and licence plate

What it costs

Student parking is sold by the term. You must pay for the full term — parking is not offered on a monthly basis, and partial terms are not pro-rated.

Student parking rate
$462.48
per term, payable in full
  • The term rate is charged in full once your request is accepted — it is not divided by the number of months you park.
  • Your acceptance email will confirm the exact amount and the term it covers.
  • To keep parking for a following term, submit a renewal request. The term rate is charged again for each new term.
  • If you cancel partway through a term, the remaining portion of the term is not refunded.

How It Works

Submit your request from this page. Facilities will confirm by email that your request has been received, then follow up with an acceptance email and payment instructions. A final email confirms when your parking access is active.

1

From this page — you get a confirmation email right away
2

Facilities emails you if your request is accepted
3

Your plate is registered and Facilities emails you when access is active
Important: Do not start parking until you receive the email confirming your access is active. Your licence plate must be registered with the parking management company first — vehicles parked before then may be ticketed.

Paying for Parking

Once your request is accepted, the term parking charge is added to your student account. Your acceptance email will confirm the amount and the term it covers. The full term must be paid — see Eligibility & Cost. You can pay using any of the following options:

  • Online bill payment — from a Canadian bank, add Emily Carr University as a payee and use your student ID number as the account number.
  • In person — at the payment window outside Financial Services, 2nd floor across from East Sculpture Gallery. Open Monday–Friday, 9:00am–4:15pm. Debit, Visa, MasterCard, or cheque.
  • By phone — call 604-629-4515, Monday–Friday, 9:00am–4:15pm. Visa or MasterCard only.
Questions about payment? Payment questions are handled by Financial Services — email cashier@ecuad.ca. For questions about your parking request itself, reply to your parking ticket email or submit a request from this page.

Parking Rules

Student parking is registered to your licence plate. Enforcement matches your plate exactly, so your registration must always be current.

  • Park only in ECU designated parking areas on P2. Vehicles parked outside this area may be ticketed.
  • Parking is first come, first served — your parking pass number does not indicate a reserved spot.
  • Do not park in visitor parking spaces 205–216. These are reserved for visitors and guests only.
  • Only the vehicle registered to your parking is authorized. If you drive a different vehicle — even temporarily — submit a request first, or it may be ticketed.
  • After your parking is cancelled or your term ends, vehicles parked without valid authorization may be ticketed or towed.
Ticketed while you were authorized to park? Do not pay it. Submit a request from this page with the ticket number and ticket date, and Facilities will request the cancellation with the parking company on your behalf. Plate changes can take a short time to take effect in their system.

Before You Submit

To help Facilities process your request quickly, please make sure you have included accurate vehicle details and the term you need parking for. Double-check your licence plate — a single wrong character can result in a ticket. If any of your vehicle information changes later, submit an update request so parking records stay current.

Reminder: Already have a pass? Use this same form to renew for a new term, update your vehicle, cancel your arrangement, request cancellation of a parking ticket, or report a parking issue.

FAQ

If you have additional questions about parking, please review the Parking FAQ.

For information about reserved parking, transit, or other daily parking options, visit the ECU Visit Us page.

You may also use this request form to report parking issues or to request updates to an existing parking arrangement. If you already have an open parking ticket with Facilities, reply directly to that email so your response stays on the same ticket — sending a new email creates a second ticket.
