Student Parking Rate Change — Effective September 1, 2026
Effective September 1, 2026, the parking term rate is increasing from $385.39 to $462.48. This is the first update since January 2020, and the new rate applies equally to student passes, which are purchased by term, and staff and faculty monthly passes. ECU has subsidized a portion of parking costs through Ministry funding since 2017 and will continue to do so; However, the current rate no longer covers the cost of leasing parking stalls, and this adjustment keeps the parking program accessible and sustainable. We understand parking is an additional cost for many. If you have any questions about the change, contact financepw@ecuad.ca.
General Information
Paid parking access is available for purchase by eligible Emily Carr students. Parking is limited and is offered on a first-come, first-served basis subject to availability. Submitting a request does not guarantee that a parking pass will be available.
If all passes are currently sold out, Facilities will let you know by email. You are welcome to check this page periodically for updates on availability, or to explore transit and daily parking options on the ECU Visit Us page.
Note: Please expect a response within approximately 4 business days.
Parking Rules
Student parking is registered to your licence plate. Enforcement matches your plate exactly, so your registration must always be current.
- Park only in ECU designated parking areas on P2. Vehicles parked outside this area may be ticketed.
- Parking is first come, first served — your parking pass number does not indicate a reserved spot.
- Do not park in visitor parking spaces 205–216. These are reserved for visitors and guests only.
- Only the vehicle registered to your parking is authorized. If you drive a different vehicle — even temporarily — submit a request first, or it may be ticketed.
- After your parking is cancelled or your term ends, vehicles parked without valid authorization may be ticketed or towed.
Ticketed while you were authorized to park? Do not pay it. Submit a request from this page with the ticket number and ticket date, and Facilities will request the cancellation with the parking company on your behalf. Plate changes can take a short time to take effect in their system.
Before You Submit
To help Facilities process your request quickly, please make sure you have included accurate vehicle details and the term you need parking for. Double-check your licence plate — a single wrong character can result in a ticket. If any of your vehicle information changes later, submit an update request so parking records stay current.
Reminder: Already have a pass? Use this same form to renew for a new term, update your vehicle, cancel your arrangement, request cancellation of a parking ticket, or report a parking issue.
FAQ
If you have additional questions about parking, please review the Parking FAQ.
For information about reserved parking, transit, or other daily parking options, visit the ECU Visit Us page.
You may also use this request form to report parking issues or to request updates to an existing parking arrangement. If you already have an open parking ticket with Facilities, reply directly to that email so your response stays on the same ticket — sending a new email creates a second ticket.
