How to Prepare Files for the Digital Output Centre (DOC)

Digital Output Centre (DOC) is a resource for document creation, print preparation, and colour accuracy/management. Learn about what processes we support, as well as how to prepare and pay for DOC services.

Location and Hours

The DOC is open Monday - Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

How to book an appointment

Sign in and use our Microsoft Bookings page for full service assistance:

  • 30 minutes (recommended for return visits and simple jobs)
  • 60 minutes (recommended for first time visits and complex jobs)

What are the rules + expectations when working in DOC?

Remain in the front lobby of DOC. Do not enter the back / technician area unless invited. This area is off-limits to ensure your safety and protect our sensitive equipment.
Bring only your computer and project materials. Do not bring food or drink into the space. This ensures a clean, safe working environment.
Create a quiet and collaborative space for all users. Do not blast music or create excessive noise. Respect others as they focus on their project work.
Conduct yourself professionally. Do not harass, verbally abuse, or behave aggressively. Courtesy and respect are mandatory; aggression, abuse or harassment will not be tolerated.

How to prepare print files according to format

Small, medium and large paper formats Save the file on the same format as the program you used to create it (e.g., .ai for Illustrator, .indd for InDesign, .psd for Photoshop).

How to pay for DOC services

Pay in person when you show up to your scheduled appointment.

  • DOC technicians will provide a detailed invoice for your print job.
  • Pay by credit card or ECU Digital Wallet.

How to use self-service printers in DOC

The DOC also includes self-service printers for basic inkjet printing.

  • Tap your OneCard to access the DOC (Room C4230).
  • Printers for immediate use are located on the left side of the room.
