Students, staff, faculty and alumni of Emily Carr may use digital wallet.

Note - Alumni must currently submit a ticket to get set up with Digital Wallet.

ECUAD Wi-Fi See our Campus Wi-Fi Guide. Use a shared library kiosk if you can't connect to ECUAD.
Credit Card or Apple Pay Check the Student Payments Office hours. Visit the payment office with exact cash or debit.
Minimum Funds Transfer additional funds to your Digital Wallet to proceed. Add at least $5 to your account.

How to add funds

Note - The Library can no longer load Digital Wallet credit onto your OneCard.

Option 1: Pay at the Student Payments Office

  • Visit the Student Commons in person.
  • Open Monday–Friday, 9:00am–4:15pm.
  • Pay by debit, Visa, MasterCard, or cheque.

Option 2: Online using ECUAD Wi-Fi (On-campus only)

  • Ensure your device is connected to ECUAD Wi-Fi.
  • Sign in at digitalwallet.ecuad.ca using your ECU credentials
  • Add funds using credit card or Apple Pay

Note  - Apple Pay is currently only accepted when using Digital Wallet on a Macbook and is not yet supported for iOS.

How to make purchases with Digital Wallet

When using your OneCard at campus shops and studios, shop staff (Techs) are available to guide you through the process.

Important

  • Always bring your OneCard with you when making purchases.
  • Only the person to whom the OneCard is assigned is permitted to use it for transactions.
  • Unauthorized use of someone else’s OneCard is not allowed.

How to troubleshoot common issues

Step 1:

Get on the right network.

  • You must connect to ECUAD network
  • You may not use ECUAD-Guest, cellular data or access the service off-campus
  • VPN will prevent the service from working

Step 2:

Try the link again with new browser.

  • Avoid Safari, as new security settings may cause issues
  • Carefully re-type 'digitalwallet.ecuad.ca' into the browser bar and refresh the page
  • Check IP tracking settings for iOS devices

Step 3:

Change your keyboard primary language to English

  • Non-English languages may prevent you from depositing funds
  • Switch your default / primary keyboard to English.
  • Restart the device.

Frequently asked questions

 

What happens to my account money at the end of the academic year?

Your Digital Wallet balance does not expire and will automatically carry over to the next academic year or next term. You can continue to use your OneCard balance for financial transactions indefinitely.

What happens to my account money at the end of the year?

Your Digital Wallet balance does not expire and will automatically carry over to the next year. You can continue to use your OneCard balance for financial transactions indefinitely.  Refunds will be issued through the EFT (Electronic Fund Transfer) process or as a mailed cheque. For Refund information, please refer to the Terms of Use.

What happens to my Digital Wallet if I am no longer attending ECU? I am not returning to ECU can I get a refund for unused funds?

You need to request to close your account and obtain a refund as per Terms of Use.

What happens when I graduate from ECU?

See Terms of Use.

Can I close my account after graduation?

Yes, if you do not anticipate using Digital Wallet as an alumni (e.g., you are leaving the country) we can permanently close your account.

Can I get a refund for unused Digital Wallet credit?

We do not refund unused credit for active accounts, however you have a few options.

  1. If you request to permanently close your account, we can refund up to $300 of unused credit at that time.
  2. You may transfer all or some of your print credit to your ECU friends and colleagues, through the PaperCut app.

How much credit can I add?

The maximum funds you may load in total is $300.

Terms of Use

1. Use and Ownership

  • You may only use your Digital Wallet when you are an active registered student, employee, faculty member or authorized third-party user.
  • You may use your Digital Wallet at all University locations and merchants that support the service. The account operates on a declining balance principle, where services are deducted from your account balance.
  • You are solely responsible for the use of your Digital Wallet, including any charges resulting from its misuse.
  • You may not use your Digital Wallet for any improper or unlawful purposes, or in any way that contravenes the Emily Carr University Code of Conduct (link).
  • Using another student’s Digital Wallet, or altering or falsifying your account information, will be dealt with according to Emily Carr University Policies and Procedures and may also be subject to civil or criminal proceedings.
  • All usage of this service must comply with the University’s Policies including Policy 7 Finance, 9.3 Appropriate Use of Tech Facilities Services, 9.6 Information Protection, and all other applicable University Policy.
  • Your Digital Wallet account may be canceled or revoked by the University at any time.

2. Security

  • You are responsible for safeguarding your Digital Wallet account login information against loss, theft and misuse, and for keeping your login information (such as your password) confidential. Emily Carr University staff and representatives will never ask you to divulge any of your account information.
  • You must log out from your Digital Wallet account at the end of each session to protect your account from unauthorized access and use.
  • You are responsible for all transactions made on your Digital Wallet until notification has been provided to and received by the IT Service Desk. The University will investigate the issue and provide a resolution.
  • If you suspect any unauthorized activities with your account, such as a compromised password, you must immediately contact the IT Service Desk here. Emily Carr University is not responsible for charges or services obtained on a compromised account.

3. Digital Wallet Account Funds

  • All Digital Wallet account funds are in Canadian dollars (CAD).
  • The amount deposited using a debit or credit card outside of Canada may differ from the intended amount due to currency exchange rates.
  • Users are responsible for adhering to the $300 maximum fund limit on their accounts. While the University understands that users may choose to load more than the recommended maximum limit to their PaperCut Account, the University will not be responsible for any excess amounts.
  • ECU Digital Wallet balances are refundable only when an account closure is requested. Your Digital Wallet has a maximum refund limit of $300.
  • The University is not liable if your Digital Wallet is not accepted when used to process a payment, including in the situation where you do not have sufficient funds available in your account.

4. Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy

  • Emily Carr University is committed to treating personal information in accordance with B.C.’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and the University’s Privacy Policies.
  • The collection of personal information by the University is in accordance with section 26(c) of FIPPA. The personal information is directly related to and needed for the operation of the Digital Wallet system and to administer and carry out related university services and activities, including monthly reconciliation of Digital Wallet transactions.
  • The University will not disclose your personal information to third parties unless required by law to do so.
  • Where funds are added to your Digital Wallet, the University employs TouchNet’s payment processing services to process the credit card transaction. Your credit card information will be securely processed and stored by TouchNet in the USA within PCI DSS complaint infrastructure.
  • Questions regarding the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information for the Digital Wallet should be addressed to the University’s Privacy Officer.

5. Limitations on the University’s Liability and Indemnity

  • The University is not liable to you for any loss, damages (including without limitation, special, indirect or consequential damages), costs or expenses of any kind that result from the use or misuse of your Digital Wallet including without limitation, if, for whatever reason, your Digital Wallet account is not accepted or you do not have sufficient funds in your account.
  • You agree to indemnify, hold harmless and release the University from any and all claims for losses, damages, costs, expenses, charges or debts made by any party against the University arising out of the use or misuse of your Digital Wallet account.

6. Changes to the Terms

  • The University has the right to amend the terms of this Agreement at any time and from time to time by posting or displaying such amendments online at ECU website page and from the time of such posting or display, you shall be bound by such amendments.

7. Entire Agreement

  • The terms described in this Digital Wallet Agreement, constitute the entire agreement between you and Emily Carr University with respect to the subject matter and supersede and replace all prior or contemporaneous understandings or agreements, written or oral, regarding such subject matter. If for any reason a court of competent jurisdiction finds any provision or portion of this Digital Wallet Agreement to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions of the Digital Wallet Agreement will continue in full force and effect.
  • TouchNet provides additional contractual obligations for your access and use of the Digital Wallet online platform and the processing of your personal information as outlined in its Privacy Notice. This Digital Wallet Agreement must be complied with in addition to any obligations outlined between you and TouchNet in its Privacy Notice.

8. Governing Law

  • This Digital Wallet Agreement will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada, without giving effect to its conflict of laws’ provisions. You agree to submit to the personal and exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in the Province of British Columbia, Canada.
